OverviewThe Opportunity PCGs Education Consulting service line seeksa Curriculum Lead for a highly complex and excitingMusiccurriculumdevelopmentprojectfora major urban district.The project provides motivated individuals a unique opportunity to support educators and students in actualizingtheIllinois Arts Learning Standardsin the creation of a custom curriculumcommittedto equity andinclusive of local arts.TheMusicCurriculum Lead will overseethe content team, includinglead writers andwriters,throughtraining, drafting,and revisionprocessestoensure the overall coherence of thePK12curriculum.The Music CurriculumLeadwill supportthecontent teamthroughouta highly creative, iterative, and collaborative development processtoproduce lessons that are rigorous, engaging, and meaningful to students.Specific responsibilities and skill/experience requirements are detailed below. This is a remote role, with occasional in-person meetings.Some travel may be required.The start date isDecember 2022, with the possibility of an earlier start for candidates with availability. About PCG s Education Consulting Service Line PCGs Education Consulting Service Line workswith states, districts, and schools to address a wide spectrum of needs such as curriculum development, instructional resources audits, design and facilitation of professional development and professional learning communities, school improvement, and program reviews. Project engagements have included the development of theEngageNYgrades 612 English Language Arts curriculum for the New York State Education Department and the delivery ofrelatedimplementation services across several states; the design and delivery of a system of a K3 professional learning program for the Connecticut State Department of Education; and the creation of training and resources to support standards implementation for the Florida Department of Education. We recently collaborated with Chicago Public Schools (IL) to develop a full-year, standards-aligned digital curriculum for PK12 English Language Arts and mathematics and are providing asynchronous and synchronous professional learning to teachers and administrators to support implementation.Currently, we are also developing a K5 ELA curriculum in partnership with Pinellas County Schools (FL) to support their transition to the new Florida B.E.S.T standards.We are also partnering with the Texas Education Agency to develop and/or revisea number ofcurricula to respond to stakeholder feedback, including K12 Reading Language Arts, K6 Spanish Language Arts, K5 Mathematics, K5 Social Studies, K2 Spanish Skills, K5 Science, and K5 Integrated (Science, Social Studies, Reading Language Arts). ResponsibilitiesThe Music Curriculum Lead will:

  • Developgrades PKHigh School Musiccurriculum
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of instructional and technical specifications and oversee adherence to the specifications that will be documented inproject requirements.
  • Provide leadership forcontent teaminthe implementation of instructional and technical specifications, as well as overall quality assuranceand on-time delivery of deliverables.
  • Developmodeldeliverables that comply with specific design criteria and for implementation in a digitalenvironment, including core lessons and additional review, support,and challenge lessons to support the development of the artistic processes.
  • Support lead writers in the formal reviewofdraft deliverables andmodelprovidingactionable written and verbal feedback forwritersto apply.
  • Provide supervision and support for lead writers.
  • Work closely withadvisors fromidentifiedpartnerorganizations(e.g., SEADAE),project leadership, and client content teamin arapid development process, includingleveraging these advisors in the conceptualization of the curriculum and in forging connections with local arts providers,coordinating workflowwith partnersas appropriateand engaging them in quality assuranceto ensure alignmenttoclientexpectations.
  • Collaborate with project team to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of theMusiccurriculum,as well as integration of all four artistic processes.
  • Partner with the PK12 Visual Arts Lead to ensure consistency of approach (as appropriate) and share best practices for reviewing and providing feedback on grade-level deliverables in support of their lead writers.
  • Collaborate with projectmanagement andoperationsteamsto ensure that established processes and structures are appropriately implemented.
  • Identifyand act uponopportunities to improve processes, operations, and client services.
  • Haveavailabilityduringregularwork week, with some night or weekend work as needed.
  • Commitfor the duration of the project (anticipated to bethroughJune2024) with opportunityfor future work.Required Skills and Orientations

    • Passionate about Fine Arts and dedicated to achievement for all students
    • Knowledge of certain instructional standards
    • Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices QualificationsRequired /Desired Experience
      • Five or more years teaching experience in K12 public school setting implementing Illinois Music standards or National Core Arts Standards in Music
      • Deep content knowledge in music as evidenced by years of teaching, advanced degree,and/or professional arts experience (preferablydistrict-level experience)
      • Experience writing standards-based curriculum at elementary, middle, and/or high school level
      • Experience teaching diverse learners, including EnglishLearners and students with disabilities
      • Previous team leadershipexperience of 3 or more years
      • Experience developing curricular resourcesfor use by other teachers
      • Familiarity with Google Drive
      • Experience with digital learning instructional design (Preferred)
