Your Opportunity
As a Project Engineer in our Cheyenne, Wyoming office, your primary
role will be to support project execution as a discipline engineer
for a variety of water power and dams projects of varying size and
complexity. You will participate in numerous different types of
tasks such as inspection, evaluation, analysis, design and
specification of engineered systems and products in compliance with
applicable codes and engineering standards/practices.
You will work primarily in the hydropower and water resource
sectors. The projects will include new development, modernization,
and rehabilitation planning and design of discipline specific
systems for hydropower and other water resource projects.
Engineering disciplines considered include civil, geotechnical,
mechanical, structural, or water resources engineering.
Your Key Responsibilities
Work in a team environment for the design of large projects with
high complexity.
Perform discipline specific design calculations and analyses.
Design and/or specify materials and equipment and develop
construction documents and project manuals..
Engage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic
models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
Develop 2D drawings and 3D models using Autodesk products to
prepare engineering drawings.
Prepare and revise reports and documentation through design
phases.
Participate in proposals and business development efforts from a
technical perspective.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and professionals
working on the projects under the direction of senior
engineers.
Understand and work within Stantec's quality control
guidelines.
Perform and/or check/review engineering calculations.
Perform inspections, oversight and attend workshops and technical
meetings as directed by a senior engineer.
Serve as Engineer of Record and stamp engineering documents and
drawings as required.
Provide field engineering support for projects during
construction.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Ability to perform in a dynamic and fast-paced team
environment.
Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of design
standards.
Understanding of all phases of project document production and the
relationship between drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of engineering systems, materials, and associated
industry standards.
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and
to engage in creative and critical thought.
Understanding and experience using AutoCad and 3D modeling software
programs from Autodesk.
Thorough understanding of discipline specific engineering concepts
related to water power and dams and ability to communicate ideas to
others.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of and ability to use standard computer applications
including Microsoft Office Suite.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and a proven
ability to write clear, thorough technical reports and present to a
group.
Ability to take directions, follow process and accept feedback and
suggestions from Senior Engineers/Designers.
Excellent organizational skills.
Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
Ability to travel regionally and locally as required.
Willing and able to relocate to the state of Wyoming.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Mechanical, or Structural
Engineering is required. Master's preferred.
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Wyoming required or
eligible to receive Wyoming PE within 1 year.
Minimum of 5-8 years of related work experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining
sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may require fitness
and exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
