tooling lathe experience to join our team in Loveland, CO. The
anticipated closing date of this posting is 1/31/26 and
applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Job Function: The
Machinist supports all aspects of the machine shop and is
responsible for the operation of both manual and CNC machines,
programming, and assisting with estimating work. Core Duties and
Responsibilities: Performs day-to-day operational and support
activities of the shop, ensuring that work production meets
established objectives, specifications, and standards, and that all
applicable operating policies and procedures are adhered to.
Creates programs for machining of prototype and production parts.
Produces custom tooling and fixture design for complex prototypes.
Operates standard and specialized equipment including multi-spindle
lathes with live tooling, horizontal or vertical milling machines,
band saws, drill presses, and measuring tools to produce prototype
parts. Consults with engineers and other personnel regarding
product information such as design, capacity and purpose, and types
of materials to be used for fabrication. Conducts in-process
inspections. Interprets and adjusts machine tool offsets.
Troubleshoots and optimizes existing programs. Digital
upload/download through network computer & machine interfaces.
Analyzes written specifications, drawings, rough sketches, and oral
instructions to plan layout and determine sequence of operations.
Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering
plans, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes,
locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interprets
geometric dimensions and tolerances. Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience working in machine shop environment.
Minimum 2 years of multi-spindle lathe experience, including live
tooling. HAAS experience is a plus. Well versed in CAM software
with CNC mill and lathe experience. 5 Axis milling experience and
G-Code/M-Code programming is a plus. Experience with calculating
feeds and speeds based on cutter type, cutter geometry and parent
material type. Physical Requirements: Strength and Stamina: The job
may involve lifting and moving parts or materials, typically up to
50lbs. The ability to stand for long periods (8 hours) is required.
Manual Dexterity: Precise hand movements are necessary for handling
tools, making adjustments to machines and operating a computer.
Visual Acuit y: Good eyesight, including close vision and depth
perception, is important for detailed work and inspecting finished
parts. Mobility: Frequent bending, stooping, and crouching is
required, along with the ability to maneuver around machinery and
equipment. Coordination: The role requires good hand-eye
coordination to operate machines safely and effectively.
Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively in writing
and verbally with team members, customers and vendors. Typical
Working Conditions: Machine and fabrication shop environment around
equipment such as water jet tables, lathes, milling machines and
press brakes. Welding operations are often taking place nearby.
This job requires adherence to strict safety protocols, including
the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). JFT has implemented
a 9/80 work schedule, and the office is closed every other Friday.
