- Employee Assistance Program Day in the life of a CFO at
Cheyenne Regional: Responsible for Cheyenne Regional's overall
financial plans, policies and accounting practices. Directs
treasury, budgeting, audit, and accounting activities. Establishes
financial reporting system with controls and standards to safeguard
Cheyenne Regional's assets. Ensures accurate and timely financial
information. Develops accounting and statistical data, routinely
reporting financial matters to the Board of Trustees. Prepares and
provides information, as requested, to the Medical Staff of
Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and the general public regarding
financial status and changing financial situations as they relate
to health care and acute hospital finances, specifically, Cheyenne
Regional. Responsible for Accounting, Materials Management, Health
Information Management, and Patient Financial Services, Managed
care contracting, Medicare Cost report submission and cost
accounting system responsibility and reporting. Here is what you
will be doing:
- Responsible for the financial success of Cheyenne Regional
Medical Center. Serves as a consultant regarding Cheyenne
Regional's financial affairs, to include short- and long-term
financial planning and strategy.
- Establishes and maintains an accounting system to meet Cheyenne
Regional's needs to provide complete and accurate records of
assets, liabilities, and financial transactions. Analyzes and
reports on monthly financial statements including monthly reporting
to the Finance Committee and the Board of Trustees.
- Responsible for the operating and capital expenditure budget
process including presentation to the Finance Committee and the
Board of Trustees. Develops and implements a reporting system
showing budget to actual variances useful to department leaders and
the Executive team. Investigates areas and methods of reducing
operating costs and increasing revenues.
- Plans, directs, supervises through managers, and coordinates
functions and activities in Accounting, Materials Management,
Health Information Management, and Patient Financial Services.
Reviews actual to budget performance and works with direct reports
to implement operating efficiencies.
- Assures completion of all requested financial analysis as
necessary. Coordinates financial statement audits.
- Selects, trains/orients and assigns department leaders.
Develops standards of performance, evaluate performance, and
initiate or make recommendations for personnel actions.
- Participates in Cheyenne Regional/Medical Staff committee
meetings as required. Attends meetings as required, and participate
on committees as directed
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars,
workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest
industry trends.
- Senior management is directly accountable for results related
to mitigating unsafe practices. The senior leader will focus on
potential risks, hazards, medication reconciliation (if
applicable), and other safety measures based on best practice.
- Provides operational leadership and has budget
responsibilities. Adheres to established leadership competencies,
service standards and reinforces excellence in those standards with
subordinates. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication
skills
- Strong financial and business acumen, including a keen
understanding of operational and financial measures that define
success, as well as budgeting and forecasting methodologies,
including working knowledge of capital planning and capital
investment practices
- Skilled in coaching and developing direct reports and/or other
employees that results in enhanced performance outcomes; setting
and pursuing aggressive facility priorities and goals that
demonstrate a strong commitment to overall organizational success;
effectively allocating resources in order to accomplish goals and
objectives; quickly assessing and assimilating facility and
industry financial dynamics in order to act quickly and
appropriately to changing environmental factors; negotiating
win-win scenarios with outside vendors/partners while representing
the health system in the best possible light; developing
collaborative and positive relationships with medical staff,
employees, volunteers, the community, and/or other applicable
parties; measuring and managing work outputs
- A strong customer focus and commitment to delivering quality
solutions and maintaining effective customer relationships
- Knowledge of modern national trends in hospital quality and
patient safety
- Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous settings, to
independently structure analysis and drive to recommendations
- Demonstrated ability to initiate projects, define project plans
and lead project teams
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning

- Ability and availability to handle emergency crisis

- Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration or
related field
- At least 10 years of Accounting/Finance experience
- 7 years progressive leadership experience
