Job Description:A Medical assistant has accountability for
providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This
will involve caring for patients with acute and chronic
needsScope1.Performs general administrative and patient care tasks
in accordance with the Intermountain Health MGPSMA Scope of
Practice, and other established policies and procedures.2.
Possesses the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically
within a multi- disciplinary care team.3. Greets and prepare
patients for the health care provider while maintaining a positive
and caring attitude.4. Attentive to patients needs, coordinates
care, administers care, and documents appropriately.5. Provides for
patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights by
observing HIPAA regulations6. Obtains and record patient
information; vital signs, height, weight, allergies, current
medications, medical history, and chief complaint, etc.7.
Demonstrates knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment
room procedures.8. May be required to draw and collect blood
samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.9. Per
Provider request, may perform routine tests including but not
limited to EKGs, hearing and vision screens.10. Schedules patients
for diagnostic testing and follow up as appropriate to ensure
completion of testing.11. Communicates test results to patients and
establish plan of care by phone or mail as directed by the
Provider.12. Documents patient plan(s) of care, tests and
examination results in the medical record as directed by the
provider.13. Prepares, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain
equipment; stock patient exam rooms while maintaining cleanliness
and organization and dispose of contaminated items according to
protocol.14. Administers ordered medications and/or vaccines via
oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant
administration.15. Escalates non-routine issues, questions and/or
concerns to the practice manager and/or healthcare provider(s).16.
Ensures safety checklists/quality controls are completed as
required.17. Demonstrates sound judgment and composure with the
ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency
situations.18. Promotes mission, vision, and values of
Intermountain Health, and abides by service behavior
standards.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent
is required.Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program
and/or be a certified Medical Assistant.Current BLS Certification
is required upon hire or within 60 days of hire upon approvalThree
(3) months previous experience within a healthcare setting is
required.PreferredOne (1) year Medical Assistant
experience.Successful completion of an Accredited National
Certification Exam for Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) or
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is preferredExperience with
authorizations for medications and insurance verification + One (1)
yearSurgical experience preferredEPIC experience +One (1) yearTo

Health Records, as well as the ability to learn applications
relevant to the position.Physical Requirements:Ongoing need for
employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs,
operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent
interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors
that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and
understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly
and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and
-Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and
delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes
frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care,
accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and
-Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer
patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and
equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and
including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with
transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing
supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and
portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to
navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on
the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary
