Job Title: Echo Tech Registered Profession: Echo Tech Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 10-hour day shift Hours per Shift: 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, weekends required Experience: 1 years of experience in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) preferred License: - Certifications: - Required: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Required: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: - Minimum of 1 year of experience in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) preferred - Ability to provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours Description: Provides specialized cardiovascular care while maintaining maximum patient safety and comfort. Performs and reviews a baseline patient assessment and evaluates patient response to diagnostic cardiac procedures. Is proficient in the operation and maintenance of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used for procedures in the specific area of operation as specified by the manufacturer. Performs accurate and thorough echocardiograms as ordered by the physician. Performs specialized testing using computer-assisted devices, including but not limited to TEE, Stress Echo, and Pharmacological Stress Echo. Is cross-trained to perform EKGs, Treadmills, and Holter monitors as needed. Maintains and reviews equipment, ensuring proper function and calibration of machines. Maintains a high skill level through participation in CQI, in-services, ongoing education, and attendance at 80% of staff meetings. Recognizes and promptly acts upon unusual results or patient responses by informing the primary health care team to ensure patient safety and foster optimal outcomes. Must be able to deal with various personality types, ages, and levels of consciousness of patients. Adjusts approach based on patient and family level of understanding of test procedures. Promptly troubleshoots and corrects recording instrument malfunctions or unusual patient problems that interfere with recordings. Independently prioritizes clinical and administrative work and identifies process improvements. Processes patient and department records, ensuring documentation of performed tests in accordance with hospital standards. Floating may be required to any location within sixty (60) miles of the original assignment location or identified float zone. Float assignments may include duties outside of original assignment job requirements in accordance with policy. Education: High School Diploma/G.E.D. required. Graduate of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate academic program in health science or a programmatically accredited program in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) strongly preferred.
