Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Registered Respiratory Therapist - Discipline: Allied Health Professional - Start Date: 07/07/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Respiratory Therapist 2 years recent exp required Required Certifications ACLS, BLS, NRP RRT Certifications Required - Required: NRP, ACLS - Preferred: PALS - Accepted: RRT or CRT Job Duties - ABGs: RTs are required to draw arterial blood gases using EPOC (competency provided). - EKGs: Performed as needed. - Intubation: RTs assist only (do not intubate independently). - High-risk deliveries are attended by the Charge RT. - No arterial lines. Unit Notes – Respiratory Therapy (RT) Department Permanent address must be at least 25 miles from the facility location Department Overview - Patient Load: - First treatment round is typically the busiest, with inhalers used frequently. - Patient assignments can fluctuate significantly (e.g., from 13 to 5 patients). - Staffing is adjusted accordingly. - Ventilator ratios are typically 1:1–6; during COVID, ratios were up to 1:8. - Staff may rotate between floors after the first rounds. Patient Population - ICU: 15 beds - Neonates: High-acuity neonates are stabilized on CPAP and transferred out. - Pediatrics: Pediatric floor present; uses high-flow nasal cannula as needed. - Adults: General inpatient population. Areas of Coverage - Inpatient only. - Travelers do not rotate to outpatient or sleep lab. - May be assigned to act as a preceptor. Experience & Skills - No required experience or specific skills at this time. Staffing & Leadership - Manager: On-site Monday–Friday - Charge/Lead Therapist: Present on every shift Scheduling - Shifts: 0530–1800 for days and nights - Self-Scheduling: Allowed (as of April 2023) - Block Scheduling: Preferred - Schedule Duration: 12-week schedules (may have some initial mismatches) - Day Staffing: 4–5 therapists - Night Staffing: 3–4 therapists - Solo Coverage: RTs will not be the only RT in-house Weekend & Holiday Requirements - Weekends: Every other weekend - Holidays: No mandatory requirements; may be asked depending on staffing Call Requirements - No call or standby required Floating - RTs will float and assist throughout the hospital Dress Code - Scrubs: Royal Blue - Logo: Must have CRMC logo on the shirt Respiratory Equipment - Ventilators: Puritan Bennett 980, Draeger (nursery), V30s (pending repair), EV300 - CPAP/BiPAP: Philips (DreamStation), V60s (includes HFT option), Parapack for transport - High Flow: Optiflow - Additional: RTs assist with transports Medical Staff - Coverage: A hospitalist or intensivist is always on call, 24/7 Orientation - 2 shifts of department-specific orientation Additional Notes - RTs must be familiar with bronch adapters and assist with bronchoscopies - Emphasis on timely reporting of critical lab values and hand hygiene - Team is friendly, welcoming, and uses new equipment About Talent4Health A leader and innovator, offering comprehensive talent solutions for the healthcare industry across the nation.
