Job_Summary Core responsibilities of this position include: Laramie County Community College is dedicated to student success and aspires to develop world-class community college faculty. Faculty and support staff work in alignment with the College s mission, vision, and values to continuously improve as professional educators and experts in their field and are supported by the Faculty Academy within the Center for Teaching & Learning. This position serves as an Education Support Staff for the music department with primary responsibilities serving as an accompanist to the choirs, student performances, and private lesson instruction. Other duties may be assigned based on institutional need. Compensation:$24.94/hr. Screening Date:Open Until Filled. Start Date:Fall/2020-Spring/2021. Essential_Functions * Regularly attend scheduled rehearsals or lesson time to perform accompaniment duties * Attend all scheduled performances in appropriate attire * Perform at a high caliber that is reflective of the high LCCC music standard * Clearly communicate in a timely manner with faculty, students and other support staff to successfully collaborate * Foster a supportive learning environment that encourages student success Nonessential_Functions * An employee in this position may perform some of these responsibilities on an infrequent basis * May need to travel to multiple locations for performances * May need to travel with students when performing off campus and may act in a chaperone capacity in accordance with LCCC policies and procedures Knowledge,_Skills,_And_Abilities * Ability to deal with conflicts, confrontations, and disagreements in a professional manner, which minimizes personal impact and maintains a professional demeanor * Accepts interpersonal and cultural diversity and accepts that colleagues may have professional differences of opinion that should not interfere with working relationships * Is willing to modify behavior & practices in response to new information, changing conditions, unexpected obstacles, or student needs * Willingness to view issues from different perspectives and adhere to the appropriate chain of command * Ability to present and express ideas and information clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience, whether oral or written * Actively listens to what others are saying to achieve understanding * Shares relevant information with others and facilitates the open exchange of ideas and information * Ability to effectively analyze problems, determine solutions, and take decisive action with personal responsibility over this decision to achieve outcomes and goals * Knowledge and ability of utilizing evidence/data on desired outcomes to assess effectiveness and efficiency * Ability to manage multiple priorities & responsibilities effectively and efficiently * Ability to accurately evaluate own performance and skill deficits and identifies skills and abilities to target training and development activities related to current and future job responsibilities * Sets short and long term goals in tandem with supervisor as part of regular professional development and performance evaluation * Willingness and ability to travel off-site for performances * Knowledge and ability to manage performance anxiety and to facilitate this with students in performance based situations * Demonstrated proficiency on an instrument or voice Physical/Mental_Demands * While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work space as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the college facilities * There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged personal computer use and proficiency which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor * An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds to perform essential position functions * Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus * The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple tasks * The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be unexpected instances of somewhat loud sounds * There will be sustained noise levels with acoustic and electronic instruments * There will be many times of traveling with students to facilitate performances * Performance based environments will require organization and management Minimum * Demonstrated piano proficiency with excellent sight reading skills * Experience in performing with groups in a wide variety of musical selections Preferred * Advanced music skills with 3-5 years of accompaniment experience * Experience performing in multiple musical genres and working with music students * Ability to lead vocal warm ups and rehearse a choir sectional preferred LCCC DOES NOT SPONSOR H1B VISAS.
