Description and FunctionsOpen Until FilledGENERAL DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a small-town atmosphere only 100 miles from Denver, with no state income tax and an average of 300 days of sunshine each year with nearby access to skiing, hiking, fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities.You will serve as Health Facility Surveyor with the Health Care Surveillance Branch, Healthcare Licensing and Surveys, Wyoming Department of Health, conducting surveys and investigating complaints statewide according to Wyoming State Statutes agreement with the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).What Health Facility Surveyors like about the job:1. Visiting the various types of healthcare facilities around the State.Human Resource Contact: 307-###-####ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.* Performs standard and abbreviated surveys such as initial licensure and certification surveys, recertification surveys, complaint investigations, and follow-up surveys.* Ensure the survey process is implemented correctly and efficiently.* Interprets regulations and guidance from the State Operations Manual and other federal/state guidelines.* Performs complaint and incident intakes and assesses and documents regulatory problems.* Determines regulatory category for complaint allegations.* Reports findings to Team Coordinator or, when working independently, to Supervisor.* Evaluates plans of correction and communicate approval or concerns to facility leadership.* Provides oral or written technical assistance to a variety of healthcare provider types.* Participates in in-service education, as well as other educational opportunities related to the survey process.* Extensive statewide travel to and from survey sites.QualificationsPREFERENCES/AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:Preference may be given to a Certified Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Registered Dietitian, Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Physical Therapist.Agency requires the successful applicant to be licensed by the Wyoming Mental Health Licensing Board, the Wyoming Dietetics Licensing Board, Wyoming Board of Occupational or Physical Therapy, or the Wyoming Board of Examiners Speech-Language Pathology.Agency requires successfully completing the CMS Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) within the first year of employment.KNOWLEDGE:* Knowledge of clinical and quality of life aspects of professional background* Knowledge of Federal and State requirements for certifying and licensing health care facilities.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Bachelor's Degree (typically in Healthcare)Experience:0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically inHealthcare) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Health Program SpecialistOREducation & ExperienceSubstitution:4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Healthcare) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Health Program SpecialistCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:NoneNecessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:* Extensive statewide travel to and from survey sites.NOTES:* FLSA: Non-exempt.Supplemental Information048-Wyoming Department of Health - Aging Division - Healthcare Licensing & SurveysClick here to view the State of Wyoming Classification and Pay Structure.URL: State of Wyoming is an Equal Opportunity Employer and actively supports the ADA and reasonably accommodates qualified applicants with disabilities.The Wyoming Department of Health is an E-Verify employer.Class Specifications are subject to change, please refer to the A & I HRD Website to ensure that you have the most recent version.
