The Quality Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the
oversight and accountability of the quality department to help
ensure the quality program evolves and develops year after year.
The position will do this by maintaining and developing a safe
working environment, maintaining quality standards, recording
quality results, training inspectors and completing other necessary
leadership tasks within the department. The Quality Supervisor must
also drive the process when quality standards arent met giving
direction to staff and recommendations to senior management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications;
conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning
nonconforming materials. Assist in setting QA compliance objectives
and ensure that targets are achieved. Assess the product
specifications of the company and its suppliers. Validate with
customer requirements. Work with Quality Engineers and Purchasing
staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers.
Assist in developing standards and establishing clearly defined
quality methods for staff to apply. Define and document quality
procedures in conjunction with operating staff. Investigate defects
identified through internal or external customer feedback. Play an
integral role in setting up and maintaining quality control
procedures for incoming inspection, customer and supplier return,
and quality audit processes. Coordinate the development and growth
of the Magpul QMS system and ISO compliance, including the creation
and coordination of documentation, process audits, and compliance
training. Identify relevant quality-related training needs,
including but not limited to quarterly internal and/or supplier
surface cosmetic training. Collect and analyze performance data and
charts against defined parameters. Works to continuously improve in
all areas by evaluating the process to reduce waste and add value
using lean and six sigma principles. Ensure inventory status
availability based on revision control direction from Magpul
Engineering. Ensure tests and procedures are properly understood,
carried out and evaluated and that product modifications are
investigated if necessary. Manage the technical data and Quality
department requirements for the Magpul ERP system. Monitor
performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical
reports. Assist with on-site first article inspection and
certification program. Keeps measurement equipment operating by
following operating instructions and calling for repairs and
calibration when required. Maintains safe and healthy work
environment by following standards and procedures, correcting
unsafe behaviors, and complying with legal regulations.
Acknowledges safe behavior. Train the Quality Control staff on
inspection methods, sampling, print reading, audit investigation,
and ERP transaction handling. Accomplishes quality and organization
mission by completing related results as needed. Represent the
Quality Control Department in ERP evaluation, testing, and system
upgrade process flows. Identify, correct, and document behavior
and/or performance issues with the Quality Team in conjunction with
the Vice President of Manufacturing Operations and the HR Director.
Manage and develop Quality Department employees and associates to
achieve established goals of safety, quality and productivity.
Ability to work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment
(temperature changes, dust, equipment, etc.). Ability to sit and/or
stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Travel
up to 5% required. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelors degree in applied science or engineering field from an
accredited college, preferred. 5+ years prior experience in Quality
Assurance for commercial product manufacture. 2+ years prior
supervisor experience. Lean and/or Six Sigma certification
preferred. Must have Quality leadership experience.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to lead company ISO compliance activities. Ability to
work with limited direction and oversight. Experience in quality
management systems. Experience in quality system audits. Strong
knowledge of GD&T application and practice as it applies to the
mechanical inspection process. Must be excellent in oral and
written communication skills. Ability to prioritize multiple
projects. Enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive behavior. Plastic
injection molding experience required. Strong knowledge of
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.); ability to learn new programs
Experience with tier 2 ERP systems a plus. Experience with machined
metal components preferred.
Organizational: This position reports to the Vice President of
Manufacturing Operations. Pay Rate: Competitive pay rate
