What we do is bigger than construction - it is about connecting communities, building new roads to the future, and keeping the spirit of the pioneers alive and well.Summary:Supports plant production operations by performing physical work required to maintain consistent operation of plants/equipment; may operate a variety of equipment, vehicles, and tooling.The ideal candidate should enjoy working outdoors in a challenging and regularly changing environment, performing a variety of manual tasks, operating tools and equipment, and supporting a team of professionals in achieving daily production goals. A big portion of the job also includes helping with plant labor and maintenance.Responsibilities:Support the Simon safety culture and other Company strategic initiativesObserve safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properlyOperate heavy equipment, including, but not limited to, loaders, backhoes, skid steers, excavators, and other mobile equipment used in aggregate mining and production operations; operate other tools and equipment as required for assigned tasksPerform manual/physical tasks required in plant operation and maintenance activitiesWork closely with plant operators, equipment operators, drivers and others in completion of assigned tasksPerform minor equipment maintenance and repair, including lubrication, replacing oil/fluids, and re-fuelingDrive company vehicles to worksites and company locations when authorizedComplete other related projects/tasks as assignedQualifications, Education, Skills, and Experience:High school diploma or GED preferred1-2 years of experience and/or equivalent combination of training/experience in operation of heavy equipment preferredPrior experience working in construction, mining or similar industry preferredValid drivers' license with ability to maintain a clean driving history requiredAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsPrevious experience operating a loader to feed a plant, or experience running an excavator preferredPrevious experience using oxy/acetylene torch and welding preferredMechanical repair skills preferredPhysical Requirements/Working Conditions:Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as requiredRegularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistanceRegularly required to use hands to manipulate objectsRegularly required to communicate (talk and hear)Frequently required to stand for long periods and walk across uneven terrainFrequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlRegularly required to stand/work on feet for long periods, and walk across uneven terrainRegularly required to work from a seated position operating equipment for long periods, and walk across uneven terrainFrequent exposure to loud noiseOccasionally exposed to working from high, precarious places and risk of electrical shockMining environment; regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, airborne particles, fuel/chemicals, loud noise, moving equipment/parts, and vibrationPosition requires travel in Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, and South Dakota >75% of timeWorkplace Expectations:Support, promote, and practice Simon core values, vision, and missionSupport, promote, and comply with Simon Code of Ethics, Workplace Conduct, Safety, and other established policies at all timesEmbrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teamsAlign personal vision and goals with larger goals of the CompanySupport continuous improvement to improve Simon processes, performance, safety, and overall successThe information contained herein is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of the job, nor are they intended to be an all-inclusive list of the skills and abilities required to do the job.
