Dish is seeking a Senior Broadcast Engineering Technician to join our Broadcast Engineering team at our Cheyenne, Wyoming Broadcast Center. The Broadcast Engineering department is responsible for maintaining the distribution of the audio/video signal throughout the Broadcast Center. For DISH Network, we downlink provider television signals then add commercial insertion content prior to handing the SDI signal off to our Compression and ESO departments. Broadcast Engineering also supports the SLING streaming platform by maintaining a multicast/IP distribution. Broadcast Engineering is also responsible for maintaining all of the monitoring systems in the Technical Operations Centers as well as Master Control. Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories: Minimizes equipment and customer outages through precise application work on equipment. Interacts with vendors and internal engineering departments. Monitors and adjusts audio and video parameters to insure the best network quality. Maintains network quality, minimizes customer outages and communicate technical issues and solutions in daily shift reports and pass down-down meetings. Responsible for Multicast/IGMP-based video and audio systems, which include PPV file and automation servers, routers, a/v alarms, analog/digital converters and commercial insertion equipment. Installs, maintains and repairs to component level various types of baseband equipment: which includes analog and digital, composite, component, NTSC, PAL, AES, SDI, and HD signals. Tunes and trouble-shoots various types of satellite and fiber decoders. Assists operations with training related to audio and video equipment use and their adjustments. Insures a clean and dust free environment in all technical areas. Maintains the integrity of the system wiring and documentation. The successful Senior Broadcast Engineering Technician will have: Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; and at least four years of IT or broadcast engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with servers, switches and routers and specialized broadcast equipment. Must be able to perform rotating 24X7 shift work including overnight shifts as dictated by the needs of the business. Ability to lift 75 lbs. Ability to distinguish gradations in color. Must be able to stand for extended periods and reach to heights of up to 7 feet. Must be able to communicate via mobile radio. Preferred Qualifications: 2 or more years of IT experience. Effective communication skills which demonstrate the ability to publish and communicate time-lines; write reports, business documentation and procedure manuals; the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from all organizational levels and external customers.
