Job Description:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This mid-level position provides technical support to assigned state agencies. It provides direct software and hardware support for workstations, servers, local area networks s, and mobile devices and troubleshoots information systems to determine the best course of action and resources required to return the system to optimum performance.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.Understand assigned agency business practices and provide primary support for applications.Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve difficult problems related to personal computer hardware and software, including desktops, printers, servers, mobile devices, and standard and unique software.Understand the agency and operations to provide timely, effective, and efficient support.Serve as the subject matter expert on agency-specific software and hardware requirements.Implement and train other IT personnel on specialized procedures and/or specialized technical testing equipment.Manage directory services for assigned agencies to include user account creation, modifications, and policy.Conduct special projects as assigned; lead projects for small agencies to include migrations, equipment replacements, desktop or server upgrades.Work with the team to establish assignments and procedures.Work with agency staff to determine IT requirements and provide quotes for required equipment and software.Test and deploy newly acquired equipment or software.Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring PC performance.Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal. Qualifications PREFERENCES: Preference may be given to those with experience in supporting and repairing desktop hardware and software.Preference may be given to those with experience in customer service in an IT setting.Preference may be given to those with experience in imaging systems.Preference may be given to those with experience supporting and repairing peripherals - printers, scanners, etc.Preference may be given to those with experience in supporting tablet and mobile devices.KNOWLEDGE:Thorough knowledge and understanding of desktop operating systems.Knowledge of Active Directory, with emphasis on permissions and file security.Knowledge of IP protocol, addressing schemas, and directory services.Knowledge of tools, standards, methods, best practices, and industry trends in the area of enterprise-wide workstation imaging and automated deployment.Knowledge of desktop, laptop, and printer hardware repair.Knowledge of using computer technologies to enhance departmental efficiencies and to better reach agency business goals.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Bachelor's Degree (typically in Computer Technology)Experience:0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Computer Technology) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Support Technologist IIOREducation & ExperienceSubstitution:3-5years of progressive work experience (typically in Computer Technology) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Support Technologist IICertificates, Licenses, Registrations:None Necessary Special Requirements PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Night and weekend work may be required.Some travel may be required.Must be able to lift 50 pounds
