Description and Functions
Open Until Filled
Under the direction and supervision of the Office Manager, the receptionist provides support for the Office of the District Attorney, including greeting the public, victims, witnesses, defense attorneys, and law enforcement. Answers and directs calls from a multi-line telephone system, data entry of all incoming information into agency case tracking system; distributes daily incoming and outgoing mail, assists other support staff as necessary; scans and e-files all incoming pleadings, orders, motions, correspondence, court documents and performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Provide receptionist support, including greeting the public.
  • Open, date stamp, sort, data entry, and distribute daily incoming and outgoing mail; updates case-tracking data; inputting relevant information in agency case management software database.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Preference will be given to applicants with any combination of training and experience equivalent to a high school diploma, plus one year of professional office experience.
    Additional preference will begiven to those applicants with legal experience.

    • Knowledge of office procedures, standards, and practices.
    • Knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, principles, and procedures.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, computer programs.
    • Skills in working with the public and other legal staff.
    • Skills in oral and written communications.
    • Skills in operation of a multi-line telephone, data entry, computer, and related office equipment.
    • Skills in and ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people, including victims and witnesses of crimes, especially in difficult situations or times of high stress.
    • Skills in organization and establishing priorities.
    • Ability to work independently.

        • FLSA: Non-exempt
        • This is an at-will position with a maximum of thirty (30) hours per week and is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the District Attorney (W.S.9-1-608).
