OVERVIEW:The Safety Specialist works in the field to conduct health and safety audits and inspections of construction sites throughout Encore's business region, ensuring all health and safety regulations and company policies are in compliance with applicable State and Federal Laws.General ResponsibilitiesMaintain open communication lines with all working relationshipsFollow up to ensure items for which the job is accountable are performedEarn and maintain customer's trust.Uphold the core values of the organization.Work well with others to accomplish the mission of the organization and of the job.Specific ResponsibilitiesMaintain company policies adhering to local, state and federal health and safety regulationsAssist Safety and Health Manager in the implementation of internal safety policies and procedures to be followed by employeesAssist Safety and Health Manager in analyzing safety data to lead and coordinate the safety effort for continual improvementParticipate on teams and in meetings, as needed, to assist in the development of the company's health and safety policies and proceduresAssist Safety and Health Manager in recording and implementing the Company's Safety CommitteeRepresent the organization in the community and / or on industry safety groups and programsReview jobsites and conducts audits for compliance with health and safety regulations making recommendations accordinglyServe field employees as primary customer contact, generating good will when making recommendations related to health and safety improvementsConduct safety and health related training as needed serving as back up for orientationStay current on any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization relating to health and safetyTravel by vehicle, occasionally, to different jobsites and locations throughout the State of Colorado and into other states where Encore has a presenceAssist Safety and Health Manager in identifying and analyzing trends relating to health and safetyOther duties as may be assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of:

  • Health and Safety regulations relating to the work assignment
  • Health and Safety in construction, maintenance and service
  • Commonly used practices and procedures within a particular field
  • Modern training techniques related to health and safetySkill in:
    • Adapting to new and changing requirements, environments, and/or information.
    • Estimating resources needed to complete required tasks
    • Using communication software
    • Business writing
    • Effective written and oral communication sufficient to be able to elicit and communicate information and achieve understanding
    • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with customers, vendors, consultants, management, and employees
    • Operating a computer including all required software
    • Typing
    • Organizing work to accomplish tasks
    • Prioritizing and reprioritizing to meet job needs
    • Problem solving
    • Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
    • Tracking numbers and bits of data relevant to the work assignmentPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
      • Climbing multiple stories of stairs in high-rise buildings
      • Climbing up ladders
      • Climbing into and out of, jobsite vehicles
      • Twisting, bending, and stretching with unimpeded mobility
      • Navigating narrow walkways and/or trenches or other tight spaces
      • Walk through hazardous and confined areas with ease
      • Pushing and pulling heavy electrical equipment
      • Crawling
      • Distracted free driving of cars, trucks, and multipurpose jobsite vehicles
      • Kneeling
      • Lifting up to 50 pounds
      • Sitting
      • Standing for extended periods of time
      • Stooping
      • Dexterous hands and fingers
      • Vision acuity, both near and far
      • Speak clearly in English
      • Hearing acuity
      • Walking significant distances, up to several miles, on rough terrain
      • Maintain balance while walking uphill
      • Withstand extreme heat and extreme cold
      • Carry up to 50 pounds to specified delivery point
      • Ability to handle stressful situations
      • Alert to changing weather conditionsREQUIREMENTS:
        • Associates Degree in Health and Safety or related field supplemented by two years of full time safety experience in a professional environment is required.
        • A Bachelor's Degree and experience in the health and safety field is preferred.
        • Experience in a safety role in Construction or Electrical is required. Electrical Safety experience is preferred.
        • CSP, CHST, ASP, GSP is preferred or a willingness to achieve one of the certifications is required.Compensation Range for this Role:
          • Salary is $30.00 to $38.00 per hour. DOE
