PURPOSE OF POSITION The Assembler is responsible for grinding, welding, fitting, and assembling all steel, iron, and manganese rail points for track work related products to the specifications provided by engineering. Task and Responsibilities: Operate hydraulic benders or presses to straighten manganese castingsSafely operate jib and overhead cranesAbility to operate grinder, welder and power toolsProficiently assemble all switch points built at plantSafely operate powered industrial truckAble to work with little supervisionAdhere to Nortrak's Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and PoliciesRoutine cleanup of work areaPerform other duties as assignedPhysical Demands:Prolonged periods of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or climbing.Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.Regularly lift and move up to 10-15 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Hearing abilities related to job assigned.
