Job Description:
The AWS Cloud Engineer will be involved in leading new cloud
architecture designs, resulting in robust, reliable and secure
cloud platform solutions and will play an integral part in
advancing the Cloud eco-system and culture of technical excellence.
As part of the team, you will be expected to lead cloud
architecture and implementation efforts, interface with vendors,
develop tools and organize open source and commercial components,
and development / execute on testing, to solve problems for running
current and proposed processes on cloud infrastructure(s). The
incumbent will possess a deep understanding in all
Cloud-as-a-Service varieties including PaaS, IaaS and SaaS and an
understanding of the differences between the services and where
they overlap.
Primary Position Tasks:
Architect, design, develop and implement Cloud solutions Amazon Web
Services (AWS) encompassing multiple specializations, platforms,
andtechnologies
Participate in delivery of new service offerings, working closely
with development team to deliver low latency, high
performanceapplications
Create blueprints for future Cloud topologies (AWS services and
interfaces) that minimize costs while maximizing performance,
reliability, andmanageability
Create, maintain and communicate the overall roadmap and solution
architecture specification for various Cloudinitiatives
Develop tools to identify and mitigate securityvulnerabilities
Interpret and provide solutions on
complextechnologies/architectures
Design, implement and test robust failover and disaster
recoveryprocedures
Create automated approaches and scripts for system administration
tasks where possible andappropriate
Define and document security standard operating procedures and
protocols from securityperspective
Develop, support, and document automated build and configuration
managementprocesses
Guide and participate in the implementation and coding of the new
solutions you conceive anddesign
Hands-on delivery architects and developers
Train and mentor Administrators and Engineers in the new standards
and processes
Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:
5-10 years of relevant professional experience in a large, diverse,
server environment
1-3years experiencewith AWS
3-5 years of prior government and/or commercial consulting
experience
AWS Associate
Intermediate/advanced knowledge of the primary AWS services (EC2,
ELB, RDS, Route53, S3, & VPC).
Experience implementing AWS services in a variety of distributed
computingenvironments
Knowledge of IP networking, VPN's, DNS, load balancing and
firewalling.
Knowledge of VMWare, HP, IBM, Cisco, VCE, Dell Systems and other
major vendors of infrastructure technology
In depth knowledge of public cloud providers like AWS, Azure or
other major vendors of public cloud
Bachelor-level degree in engineering, information technology, data
communications, telecommunications, computer science, or equivalent
educational or professional experience and/or qualifications
Technical proficiency including systems experience, strong
troubleshooting andproblem solvingskills, and issue management in a
multi-platformenvironment
Experience participating in all aspects ofELC
Experience identifying gaps in existing client skill base and
developing documentation to include job descriptions for key
architectural positions, skill requirements and required
certifications for roles/positions, inventory of required
competencies by job description/role, and an inventory of required
technical skills by job description/role
Knowledge of Architecture governance best practices and experience
applying them to solve clientproblems
Experience defining the specific metrics which communicate the
benefits of an architecture program to the business; tracking to
what extent those benefits are being delivered on an ongoing basis;
and identifying metric stakeholders andowners
Deployment and operational expertise Windows, Linux, and other
Operating Systems.
Expert knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMWare,
OpenStack, or OVM
Familiarity with public and private cloud computing environments
based onVMware ,OpenStack, or others
Knowledge of big data and analytics solutions, and Hadoop
environments
Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:
Possess Windows Systems experience
Strong knowledge of SAN and backup technologies
Experienced with networking and network/systemsecurity
An advanced degree or training in the area of specialization such
as AWS or Azure architect ispreferred
Subject matter expert in server hardware and operating systems
Knowledge of project management methodology
Ability and discipline to work and succeed in a fast pace and
organizationally complex environment, to effectively adapt to
rapidly changing technology, and to lead and manage
smallprojects
Demonstrated record in leading and instilling service disciplines
and teamwork
Ability to work independently and manage multiple
taskassignments
Strong oral and written communication skills, including
presentation skills (MS Visio, MS PowerPoint)
Understanding of Automation and Continuous Integration & Deployment
(CI-CD)
Planning and designing complex system configurations and standards
for Virtualization and Storage platforms fromscratch
Influence and drive cloud related capabilities, solutions and
opportunities in coordination with external partners, operations
and application teams.
Design and implement secure cloud application environments with
centralize identity management.
Deep understanding of load balancing and scalability techniques
Hands-on scripting expertise in at least one mainstream scripting
language (i.e.Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, etc.)
Strong problemsolving abilities coupled with a desire to take on
achallenge
Strong self-awareness and self-motivation

Essential Elements:
Remote Position: This position requires the ability to continuously
communicate with co-workers throughout the day utilizing Red River
approved and/or provided communication tools and equipment.
Special Requirements:
Expected 30% travel to customer and partner sites.
