PURPOSE OF POSITION The Assembler is responsible for grinding, welding, fitting, and assembling all steel, iron, and manganese rail points for track work related products to the specifications provided by engineering. Task and Responsibilities:

• Operate hydraulic benders or presses to straighten manganese castings
  • Safely operate jib and overhead cranes
    • Ability to operate grinder, welder and power tools
    • Proficiently assemble all switch points built at plant
    • Safely operate powered industrial truck
    • Able to work with little supervision
      • Adhere to Nortrak's Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies
        • Routine cleanup of work area
        • Perform other duties as assignedPhysical Demands:
          • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or climbing.
          • Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
          • Regularly lift and move up to 10-15 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 70 pounds.
          • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
          • Hearing abilities related to job assigned. Job Requirements (e.g. education, experience, skills and desired competencies)
            • High School graduate or GED preferred
            • Welding, Forklift and Crane certification preferred
            • Ability to read work orders, ITP's, blue prints, rulers and tape measures
            • Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals
              • Experience in Railroad Industry is a plus Working Location:
