Bonus being offered for external hires.#LI-AP1This position is for
an experienced power systems engineer who can provide added value
to the Electrical Power and Distribution Subsystem (EPDS) team for
spacecraft programs throughout the company.The Engineering, Science
and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the
technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the
successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for
our customers' missions. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams
are committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning, and
strong execution.What You'll Do:
- Collaborate with the EPDS department as part of your core team.
- Work together with colleagues on tackling complex and
challenging tasks.
- Support spacecraft power system development at each phase of
the program lifecycle.
- Own several different spacecraft power system roles as the need
arises, including but not limited to:
- Leading Electrical Power Systems engineer on unique spacecraft
missions, including national defense and civil space.
- Serving as the Responsible Engineer for EPDS components such as
spacecraft batteries and solar arrays.
- Development of a new payload interface box.
- Providing power system sizing and scheduling for new business
proposals and opportunities.
- Overseeing procurement of critical spacecraft components with
subcontractors.
- Contributing to advancements in power system architectures for
new missions.
- Managing IR&D projects to develop innovative technological
products and solutions.
- Represent the power systems team at all levels of space vehicle
programs to ensure mission needs are met.
- Participate broadly and deeply in power systems for space
missions.
- Contribute to mission success by enabling more images, planets,
storms, and intelligence gathering.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within
the department and across the organization, fostering a positive
and productive environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.On-Site Work Environment:This
position requires regular in-person engagement, working on-site
three or more days each scheduled week at the primary location.
Travel between company campuses and other locations may be
required.Working Conditions:
- Work may be performed in offices, laboratories, production
floors, cleanrooms, outdoors, or remote environments.
- Occasional work in production centers with protective
gear.
- Access to facilities in various weather conditions.Required
Education, Experience, & Skills:
- BS in Engineering or a related field, with 8+ years of related
experience. Higher degrees may substitute for experience.
- Current TS/SCI security clearance.
- At least 4 years of direct experience in spacecraft electrical
power subsystem engineering, testing, or operations.
- Desire to learn and grow.
- Strong technical foundation and ownership mentality.
- Effective in small, responsible teams and collaborative
environments.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to learn and apply tools for power system sizing and
analysis.Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Knowledge of lithium-ion batteries, solar arrays, power
control/distribution, power conversion, regulation, and fault
protection.
- Experience with power simulation tools (e.g., PSPICE,
MATLAB).
- Experience with space-qualified hardware development.Pay
Range:Full-Time Salary Range: $130,355 - $221,603Note: Salaries are
based on market pay structures and candidate
